ballad of the saint louis browns
ballad of the saint louis browns
J.R. Wilkerson

i saw ‘em through the ether against an iridescent sky, satchel
wheeling
from the windup and i couldn’t reason why
sisler
slapped one in a pasture
that i had to go collect, navigating ‘round the field pats, realized we were, in fact
beneath a circus big-top,
moon and
stars up
in the stitching so i made it for the door
though the place
be so bewitching
to discover, before waking in the fallows, past the crick
where they packed and left
for balt’more board by board, and brick by brick
