while she tries to pirate the stream displaying the
home run derby onto our television, i fashion a
preparatory plate of sorry nachos. it is accidentally
july again. twice already the mosquito truck has
passed the window. is it true that if they ever let us
leave, we will have to disclose about the mushroom
that grew once from a hole in the bathroom wall? sara
says you can still try to woo me you know—the cat at
her breast, fresh dew on her beer can—like you did
before. twelve swings into the bonus round, and one more
green walnut falls on the empty house next door. i think
she and me should have spent the first half of the season
playing catch more often, (sometimes aiming at each
other’s heads,) enough so that come october, the closet
where we stash our gloves until opening day would
already reek of walnuts.
